He was predeceased by: his parents, Owen T. Layne, Sr. and Esther Mae Taylor Layne; his wife Rosetta Marie Tomlin Layne; and his sons, Rusty and Timothy Layne.
He is survived by: his children, Floyd Layne (Rosalyn) of South Boston, Sheryl Layne of Nathalie, David Layne of Nathalie, April Layne of Florida, Tonya Davis (Thomas) of Renan, Owen T. Layne, III (Amanda) of Halifax and Toshia Layne (William) of Halifax; and his brothers, Russell Layne of Nathalie and Raymond Layne (Becky) of Nathalie. He is also survived by 41 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren.
Viewing was held on Sunday, November 2nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jeffress Funeral Home and Cremation Service (304 Lusardi Dr, Brookneal, VA 24528). A funeral service was held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
