She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Lenwood Martin and Mattie Martin; her former husband Joe Smiley Nicholson; her children, Joann Mullen of Accokeek, Janet Garner (Joseph) of Newport News, Judie Ross of Hampton and Joseph Nicholson; her husband Edward Thomas; her children, Edwina Carter (Bobby) of Hampton, Virginia, Eric Thomas of Newark, James Edward Thomas and Vivian Scott; her siblings, Linwood Martin Jr., Ernest Martin, Queenie DeLoach, Willie Lee Martin, Edward Lee Martin and Debra Ann Mallory; her grandsons, Russell DeJeres Bandy and Erick Khalil Thomas; her siblings, Lizzel Carter, Leona Floyd and Dorothy Mae Wright; her son Willie Earl Nicholson of Newport News; her siblings-in-law, Devolium Poindexter (Bobby) and Curtis Taylor (Katherine Johnson); her daughters, Brenda Carter and Kaylan Pavlock; her son-in-law Bobby Carter; and her grandson Jah'Kee Thomas. She was also cherished by loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
