He was predeceased by: his parents, Joe Dixon Mewborn and Hazel Parker Mewborn of Farmville, NC.; his brothers, Billy Gene Mewborn, Levi Dixon Mewborn and David Joe Mewborn; and his grandson Pete Layden Mewborn.

He is survived by: his brothers, Donnie, Mickey, Robert, Steve and Barry; his wife Debra Carole Mewborn; the mother of his children Patricia Mewborn of Gloucester; his sons, Billy Dixon Mewborn (JoAnn) of Gloucester and Casey Allen Mewborn of Middlesex; his granddaughter Amber Mewborn Impavido; his great grandchild Michael Leo Impavido of Clarksville, TN; his niece Kelly Jane Pastirik (Michael); his nephew Wade Scott Mewborn (Ann); his great-nieces, Grace and Emma of Richmond; his cousins, Nancy Akel of Ponte Vedra, FL, Ollie, Barry Keiter and Stephen Mewborn of Kemah, TX.; Ryan of Williamsburg, Jessica, Kimberly of Winterville, NC, Judy Mewborn and Larry Mewborn of Raleigh, NC.
