Summers of Hampton, Virginia, born in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, who passed away on September 13, 2025, at the age of 77, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mother Bessie D. Summers; and his brother Francis Ronald Summers. He is survived by: his wife Rita; his sons, Ryan (Marisa), William and Matthew (Catherine); his sister Linda Seely (David); his sister-in-law Terri; his grandchildren, Laila, Thomas, Maddox and Lucas; and his sibling's children, Pam Withrow (George), Lisa Summers (Matthew), Michelle Duffy (Christopher) and Michael.
In Gene's memory and in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Animal Aid Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
