She is survived by: her children, James Shaffer (Trina), Paul Shaffer and Raquel Walker (Miles); her grandson Sachio; her siblings, Yasuhiro Higashihama and Keiko Higashihama; and her siblings' children, Kathryn Wilson (Jim), Michael and Anthony Charnecki.

She opened her home after the pandemic to host monthly discussion meetings up until her passing.
