She was predeceased by: her parents, Robertson Carter and Ellen Morton Gee Saunders; and her brother Charles Saunders. She is survived by: her husband Robert Moon Spilman; her son James Spilman (Debbie) of Lago Vista, Texas; her stepdaughters, Kathryn Wilson (Barry) of Scottsville, Virginia and Karen Marmaras (Peter) of Pen Argyl; her siblings, Nancye Johnson, Dorothy Nielsen and Lawrence Saunders (Pat) of Durant, Oklahoma.; her grandchildren, Lisa Spilman Honan (John), Laura Spilman Holder (Joe), Robert Louis Spilman (Sloane), Nichole Singleton Dawson (Christopher), Annie Marmaras Volk (Nick), Grace and John Marmaras; and her great grandchildren, Julia Marchant, Conor Honan and Amy Volk.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 5th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home - Harrisonburg (3173 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, VA 22801). A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 6th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
