She was predeceased by: her parents, Norman Robert Thacker and Catherine Susan Caricofe Thacker; her husband James Warren Shoemaker; her son-in-law Ted Germroth; her sisters, Elsie Armentrout, Norma Jane Thacker Hensley and Peggy Ann Heatwole; and her granddaughter Kristal Germroth.

She is survived by: her daughter Deborah Shoemaker Germroth of Kingsport, Tennessee; her granddaughter Karah Germroth of Arusha, Tanzania; her great grandchildren, Kilel Naikoyo, Milalo Naikoyo, Taiyani Violet Naikoyo and Malia Mkoosi; her grandsons-in-law, Lorinyu Mkoosi and Onesmo Naikoyo; and her brother David Thacker. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
