With profound sadness, we say goodbye to David Joy Hatmaker of Harrisonburg, Virginia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. David left this world on September 3, 2025 at the age of 90, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

As we bid adieu to David's earthly form, let us not dwell on the void left in his wake, but rather celebrate the legacy of love and inspiration David has bequeathed us. For though he may have departed from our sight, his spirit remains a timeless beacon, guiding loved ones through the labyrinth of life's journey.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Castleton Hatmaker and Ellen Clark Crawford; his wife Dorothy Hatmaker; and his daughter Amanda Hatmaker. He is survived by: his son Paul Giles Hatmaker (Elizabeth Rice Hatmaker); and his grandchildren, Lauren Elizabeth Hatmaker of Winchester, Morgan Gayle Baldanza (Allen) of Front Royal, David Jameson Boyd Hatmaker (Jasmin) of Richmond and William George Vincent Hatmaker (Megan) of Stephens City, Virginia. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to KOVAR, a tax-exempt organization established in 1971 with a mission to empower nonprofit organizations with financial support to improve access to affordable housing, job training, sports participation, and personal care for Virginians with intellectual disabilities (ID).
