He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Hottel and Bernice Hottel (Riddleberger); his daughter Amy Hottel; and his sister Sandra Hottel. He is survived by: his children, Rebecca Hanson (Stephen) and Benjamin Hottel (Bobbiejo); his siblings, Nancy Fleischman (Julio) and L. B. Hottel, Jr. (Sandy); his grandchildren, Amber Fenwick (Ed), Matthew Hottel (Jasmine), Kaitlyn Hottel, Ava Hanson and Nicolas Hanson; his niece Carissa Alexander; and his nephews, Cliff Shiflet, Chris Shiflet (Pam), Andrew Fleischman (Trish) and Paul Fleischman (Natcha). He is also survived by three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service (208 S Main St, Bridgewater, VA 22812). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Mount Crawford United Methodist Church (360 N Main St, Mt Crawford, VA 22841).
