He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Newton and Brownie May Bowman Burkholder; and his sister Jane Burkholder. He is survived by: his wife Lois Elizabeth "Lizzie" Caplinger Burkholder; his daughter Dawn Weaver (Bill) of Mt. Crawford; his grandchildren, Benjamin Weaver (Alyssa) of San Francisco, CA and Rachel Weaver of Bridgewater; his siblings, Clarence Burkholder (Sharon) of Suffolk, Boyd Burkholder (Sharon) of Rockingham, Earl Burkholder (Donna) of Las Cruces, NM, Lois Wenger (Robert) of Harrisonburg, Dwight Burkholder (Linda) of Stuarts Draft and Ruel Burkholder (Diane) of Rockingham; and his sister-in-law Shirley Caplinger. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses.
