Joy Joan (Wisman) Nies Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joy Joan (Wisman) Nies of Harrisonburg, Virginia, who passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Clinton and Velma Mae Wiseman (Thompson); her grandmother Joy; her daughter-in-law Angela Y. Nies; and her brother Nolan Wisman.
She is survived by: her husband Bernard "Bernie" Nies; her son Kevin Nies (Melanie) of Baltimore, MD; her grandsons, Dominic Nies and Daniel Nies; and her siblings, David Wisman and Jane Ann Miller. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Kyger Funeral Home - Harrisonburg (3173 Spotswood Trail, Harrisonburg, VA 22801). A memorial service will be held on Monday, July 28th 2025 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial contributions be made to the Valley Christian School and Daycare, 14695 Rockingham Pike, Elkton, VA 22827.
