He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Phillip "J. P." Kite and Madeline Dean Kite of Virginia; and his wife Barbara Jean Smith Kite. He is survived by: his children, Alicia Kite-Barbour of Charlottesville, Virginia, Jeremy Kite of Harrisonburg, Virginia., Justin Kite of Harrisonburg, Virginia., Caroline Nelson, Ebonnie Richardson, Jessica Stroop and Paige of Washington; his sisters, Frances Ann Shifflett (late Fonda Shifflett) of Elkton and Shelby Stroop; his brothers-in-law, Larry Stroop of McGaheysville and Bobby Dean of Penn Laird, Virginia; his siblings, Joe Lee Kite of McGaheysville and Linda Faye Shifflett of Elkton, Virginia.; and his grandchildren, Tayvon Deandre Covington, Dash Barbour, Terrya Shifflett and Jayla Kite. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the family to assist with final expenses.
