She was predeceased by: her parents, George Edward Shank and Blanche Weaver Shank Colaw; her husband Samuel Leroy "S. L." Hess, II; her son C. Steven Hess; her sister Doris S. Gainer; her brother-in-law Charles M. Hess, Jr.; her nephew Kenny Shifflett; and her niece Angel Hess.
She is survived by: her children, Sue Hess Lam (Phil) and Samuel L. Hess, III (Diane); her granddaughter Karmen Derrow (Richard); her great grandchildren, Coty, Ty and Lexi Derrow; her granddaughter Summer Long; her great grandchildren, Lilly, Ava and Gage Long; her sister-in-law Sandy Hess; and her nieces and nephews, Dennis, George Shifflett, Laura Hess Baltagi, Greer Etchebarne, C. M. Hess, III and Sabrina Hess Knight.
