With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Mary Joy Hanlon (Harrisonburg, Virginia), whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Joy and Catherine Joy (Powers); her husband Daniel W. Hanlon; and her siblings, Kathryn Dunmoyer, Joan Joy, Maurice Joy, Sr., Leonard Joy and Joe Joy.
She is survived by: her children, Brigid Byers (Kenny), Daniel Hanlon (Greta) and David Hanlon (Tiffany); her sisters, Frances Walker, Jean Mensh, Veronica Haerer and Alice O'Dea; her grandchildren, Cullen Byers (Kylie), Colleen Shank (Adam), Rachel Hoover (Wade), Seth Hanlon (Elise Yi), Molly Byers, Allison Byers, Lochlain Hanlon, Ian Hanlon, Wyatt Cash and Jackson Cash; and her great grandchildren, Penelope Reese Byers and Emma Joy Hoover. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Johnson Funeral & Cremation Service (208 S Main St, Bridgewater, VA 22812). A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church (154 N Main St, Harrisonburg, VA 22802).
In lieu of flowers, financial contributions can be made to Sunnyside Retirement Community.
