He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Daniel and Anna Ruth Rhodes Showalter; his former wife Frances Showalter; his children, Elizabeth Ames (Harold) of Box Elder, SD, Karen (Allen Lenker) of Roanoke, Kathryn Riley (Blaine) of Colorado Springs, CO and Scott Showalter of Hinton; his stepchildren, Tammy Kiser (Greg) of Dayton, Vicki Reineke (Rick) of Virginia Beach and Timothy Craig (Janet) of Dayton; his siblings, Boyd Showalter (Linda) of Dayton, Ella Showalter of Dayton, Fred Showalter (Doris) of Harrisonburg, Ruby Rhodes (Clifford) of Dayton, Wilma Martin (David) of New Bethlehem, PA and Nancy Rhodes; his grandchildren, Chloe Eye, Julia Eye, Myla Eye, Andi Riley, Caleb Riley and Maddie Lenker; his stepgrandchildren, Joshua Craig, Sarah, Jeremy Craig, Luke Kiser, Margaret Martz, Derek Reineke, Jessica Sizemore, John, Danielle Reineke, Brynn Kiser and Taylor; his brother Nelson Showalter; his grandson Channing Scott; and his brother-in-law Robert Rhodes.
He is survived by: his wife Catherine Craig Showalter.
