He was predeceased by: his parents, Acie Whetzel and Irene Whetzel; and his wife Roberta Whetzel. He is survived by: his son Wesley Whetzel; his stepdaughters, Carolyn Stroupe, Lennis Sager and Barbara Whetzel; his grandson Talon Whetzel; and his siblings, Elmer "Buddy" Whetzel (Melvin Whetzel), Earl Whetzel (Vernon "Shorty" Whetzel) and Brenda Shaffer. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
