As we bid Shelby farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Shelby is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Ollie Bane Herring and Vandilla Williams Herring. She is survived by: her daughter Renee Cason Powell; her son-in-law Ronald Hull Powell; her granddaughter Jessica Renee Powell; her sister Shirley Roberts of Charlottesville; and her sisters-in-law, Shirley Motley of Prospect, Margie Davis (Ronnie) of Earlysville and Lois Gilbert of Stanardsville.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Hogg Funeral Home (3098 George Washington Memorial Hwy, Hayes, VA 23072). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Holly Memorial Gardens Cemetery (3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22911).
