He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob A. Royal Sr. and Virginia Cox Royal. He is survived by: his wife Linda G. Royal; his daughters, Kimberly Mercer (Robin), Jennifer Handorf (Howie) and Stephanie Altland (Brian); and his grandchildren, Victoria Mercer (Chad), Davis Stone, Brooke Bissette, Caleb Altland, Brady Altland, Caroline Handorf and Savannah Altland. He is also survived by "Papa" to his grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Outreach Efforts at Sandston Baptist Church, 100 W. Williamsburg Rd., Sandston VA 23150—an outreach program, close to Jay's heart, that reflects his lifelong commitment to helping others through his faith.
