He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Russell and Arlene Catherine Miller Brooks; his wife Carol Jo Brooks; his stepfather Albert McCuthcheon; his son Mark Brooks; his stepson Eric Brown; and his siblings, Frankie Brooks and Nancy Dill.
He is survived by: his son Keith Everett Brooks (Betty); his stepdaughter Wendy Brown Hale; his close friend Betty Bartley; his stepson Chris Brown (Alicia); his grandchildren, Nicholas, Brooke Brown, Austin, Jessica Brooks, Dustin Hensley, Steven, Bethany, Rebecca and Matthew Hale; and his stepgrandchildren, Dylan, Bryana and Bethany Lehmann. He is also survived by five great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Thursday, August 14th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Oak Lawn Mausoleum and Memory Gardens (1921 Shutterlee Mill Rd, Staunton, VA 24401).
