She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Walter Christa Sowers and Velma Martin Sowers; her husband Chester Earl Melton; her brother Alva Loy Sowers; and her son-in-law Steven Hunter.
She is survived by: her daughter Kathi M. Hunter of Spring Grove, VA; her sister Bonnie S. Kimble of Hillsville, VA; her grandsons, Evan Hunter (Julie) of Lexington, NC and Eric Hunter (Liz) of Chesterfield, VA.; her great grandchildren, Ryan, Ethan, Charlotte, Cole, Megan and Sarah Hunter; and her close friends, Joann Iroler, Katie Adams and Carol Harrell. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
