He was predeceased by: his parents, David Crockett Adkins, Sr. and Fannie Frances Gibson Adkins; and his brothers, Buddy Wayne Adkins, J. B. Adkins and Emmett Adkins.
He is survived by: his wife Betty Simpson Adkins; his daughter Rhonda A. Parsons (Charles) of Hurt; his granddaughter Ashley Kaye Mayhew of Hurt; his siblings, Riley Adkins (Sandra) of Danville, David Adkins, Jr. (Kathy) of Ringgold, Irene Tuck of Gretna and Carolyn Falls of Gretna; and his stepgrandsons, Jeremy Parsons and Ben Parsons (Jill).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Colbert-Moran Chapel (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A burial will be held on Saturday, June 21st 2025 at the Green Lawn Cemetery (812 Country Club Rd, Hurt, VA 24563).
