He was predeceased by: his parents, Victor Earl Thacker and Bettie Owen Thacker; his wife Toni Reynolds Thacker; and his siblings, Victor Earl "Bud" Thacker III, Robert Lee "Bob" Thacker, Kenneth Thacker and Anita Thacker.

He is survived by: his children, Jason Thacker (Stacy) of Hurt and Paige Haugh (Rob) of Hurt; his siblings, June Wooldridge (Donnie) of Altavista and Eddie Thacker (Libby) of Hurt; and his grandchildren, Adrienne (Gilberto), Mallory, Meagan, Madaline, Austin (Cameo), Summer (Toby), Hope, Derek and Ryland. He is also survived by 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at the Colbert-Moran Funeral Home (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557). A funeral service was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Colbert-Moran Chapel (307 Main St, Gretna, VA 24557).
