It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Pugh Moorefield of Hurt, Virginia, born in Halifax, Virginia, who passed away on March 5, 2024, at the age of 79, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Eugene LaPrade Pugh and Fleda Tucker Pugh; her husband Jordan Carroll Moorefield; her son Ricky D. Moorefield; her grandson Kendall Ray Moorefield; and her brother Ellis Pugh.

She is survived by : her son Michael C. Moorefield (Pamala) of Hurt; her daughter-in-law Ellen Oakes Moorefield of Hurt; her siblings, Lawrence Pugh (Lucille) of Long Island and Nora Saunders of Lynchburg; her grandchildren, Daniel Moorefield of Hurt, Paige Harris (Michael) of Bedford, Mason Roach (Morgan) of Hurt and Ellery Haymore (William) of Gretna; and her great grandchildren, Allie Harris and Emma Harris. She is also survived by one great-granddaughter on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
