He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Thomas Compton and Idella King Compton; his wife Ida Doss Compton; his son Robert Michael Compton; and his sisters, Ruby Layne and Lula Walker.
He is survived by: his son Stacy Compton (Vickie) of Hurt; and his granddaughters, Olivia Compton and Isabella Compton. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
