It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jennings Ward Walls (Independence, Virginia), who passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Letcher T. Jennings and Bessie McKnight Jennings; her husband William French Ward; her friend James "Jimmy" Ray Walls; and her siblings, Ruby Jennings, Aileen Sutherland, Louise Shores, Donna James, Albert, Roy, Rex, Fred and Bobby Jennings.
She is survived by: her sisters-in-law, Geneva Jennings of Galax, VA and Mozelle Jennings of Galax, VA. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, along with close friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Independence Volunteer Rescue Squad or the Independence Fire Department.
