It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elmer Reedy (Independence, Virginia), who passed away on October 8, 2025, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. As Elmer departs from this earthly realm, his essence lingers — a whisper on the wind, a ripple on the water — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of life and death. Though Elmer may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy Elmer leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie Reedy and Faye Reedy; his wife Ella Mae; and his pet Mello. He is survived by: his granddaughters, Jamie Addington (Matt Addington) and Jessie Mathias (Andrew Dickerson); his great grandchildren, Maylee, Jordan and Malina; his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Carter and Mary Reedy; and his pet Mitzy. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Funeral Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home (44 Dan Walters Dr, Independence, VA 24348). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
