He was predeceased by: his parents, Willard Mills and Georgia Elkins Mills; his son Johnny Mills II; and his brother Earl Mills. He is survived by: his wife Delores Walker Mills; his children, Jason Mills of Columbia, SC, Stephanie (Kevin Harsey), Shelly Blackmon of Columbia, SC and Darlene (William Lee); and his brothers, Theodore (Teddy) and Pat Mills of West Columbia, SC. He is also survived by nine grandchildren: two nieces and one nephew; several great nieces and nephews.
