It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Shelby Joanne Thompson Combs of Independence, Virginia, who passed away on January 23, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, Ernest Virgil and Thelma Messer Thompson, Sr.; her husband Bryan Combs; her brother Darrell Thompson; and her grandson Jared Braxton Thompson.
She is survived by : her children, Joanna Combs (Teresa) of Lewisville, NC, Myra Combs of Westfield, NC, E. V. Thompson (Tracy) of Lewisville, NC, Tommy Thompson of King, NC and Larry Holder of Pinnacle, NC; and her brother Dallas Wayne Thompson (Brenda) of Farmington, NC. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
