He was predeceased by: his parents, Linwood James and Virginia Cooney; his stepfather William Cooney; and his son Ian James. He is survived by: his wife Marion; his sons, Stuart (Kathe) and Leland; his grandchildren, Ali Leask (Nic), Elizabeth James, Avery James and Wilder James; and his great grandchild Eleanor Leask.
