She was predeceased by: her parents, Timberlake Meredith Puller and Mary Gilliam Puller (Williams); her former husband John M. Townes, III; and her son John M. Townes, IV. She is survived by: her husband Col. James Edward Townes; her sons, Timberlake Meredith Townes of Downingtown and Stephen Fleming Townes of Kilmarnock; her sisters, Mary Lou Griggs and Sallie Mae Newbill; and her stepchildren, Patricia Hooks of Naples and Richard Townes of Charleston, SC.. She is also survived by three grandchildren; three great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Grace Episcopal Church (303 S Main St, Kilmarnock, VA 22482).
