He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Hicks and Mary Helen Johnson; and his grandparents, Hubert and Golden Johnson. He is survived by: his former wives, Peggy Clawson Hicks and Thelma Cope Hicks; his wife Margaret Stewart Hicks; his daughter Mary Helen Marcum (Matthew) of Rose Hill, VA; his grandchildren, Chloe of Rose Hill, VA., Maddie of Rose Hill, VA., Kensley of Rose Hill, VA., Owen of Rose Hill, VA., Huntley of Rose Hill, VA. and Heidi Marcum of Rose Hill, VA.; and his close friend John Leedy. He is also survived by many family members and friends.

Due to Covid-19 state regulations, there are only 10 people allowed inside the funeral home and at the cemetery, those attending the visitation and funerals at Province Funeral Homes are asked to wear mask/facial covering. Social distancing guidelines will also be in place.
