It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Viola Smith of Kenbridge, Virginia, born in Lunenburg, Virginia, who passed away on May 25, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Etta Johnson and Littleton Johnson; her husband William Smith; her sons, Jerome and William Alexander; her great grandchild Monroe; and her siblings, Mildred, Gracie, Virginia, Johnnie, Lit, Charlie, Lewis and Chauncey.
She is survived by: her children, John Arthur Smith (Maylene) of Kenbridge, VA and Laverne Jolly (Leroy) of Freeman, VA; her grandchildren, DeRelle Elder (Greg) of Surry County, VA, Angela Lund of Portland, Ted Smith of Meredithville, VA, John Smith (Whitney) of Franklin, KY, Bryan Jolly (Sonia) of Burke, VA, Dione Brown (Morris) of Chesterfield, VA and Dedra Mills (Rodney) of Lawrenceville, VA; her great grandchildren, Darius, Sonali, Shaan, Andreas, Freya, Luca, Lola, Londyn, Jaylen, Julian and Journi; her sisters, Luevenia Jackson, Gladys Mingo-Nash and Dorothy Hatchett; her stepsiblings, Jim Tisdale and Nellie Fegans; and her sister-in-law Sarah Johnson. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
