She is survived by: her sister Zella Lee Edge; her children, Teresa Diane Charles, Shirley Maxine Buchanan (Thomas), Pamela Jane McConnell and William (Bill); her grandchildren, Waldron Charles Jr. (Sarah), Shawn Charles (Kelly), LaTasha Dotson, Robert (AJ), Joshua Cole (Alessandra) and Keisha Knutson; and her son-in-law Byrd Cole.

After a long battle with Alzheimer's, she passed peacefully at her home in King George, VA.
