He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Messer and Opal Messer; his brother Alan Messer; and his aunts and uncles, Arthur and Cecil Messer.
He is survived by: his wife Jean B. Messer of La Crosse; his siblings, Michael Messer (Mary) of Ohio and Pamela Weitzel (John) of North Carolina; his nieces and nephews, Thomas Messer (Kelly), Nicholas Weitzel, Janine Gillispie (Mark) and Gretchen Dalrymple (Josh); and his friend Bobby Webb.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery (3152 Marengo Rd, La Crosse, VA 23950).
