He was predeceased by: his mothers, Ethel Mae Barner-Malone and Virginia. He is survived by: his wife Pansy Smith Barner; his stepchildren, Adrian Brown and Herbert Ruffin; his grandchildren, Shaquom Vaughan, Brandon Ruffin, RJ Brown and Jahyna Scott; his sisters, Doris Russell, Betty Barner and Joan Malone-Artis; his cousins, Lucy Garner and Tommy Harris; and his nieces and nephews, Tyrone Barner, Jerrod Barner, Stacey Anderson and Angie "Dee" Barner. He is also survived by cousins and several great grandchildren.
