With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Robert Gene Hertel in Leesburg, Virginia, born in Hays, Kansas, who passed away on September 12, 2022 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his wife Rosemary. He is survived by: his children, Richard Hertel (Karen) of Easton, Pennsylvania, Marguerite Munroe (Bill) of Cross Junction, Virginia and Nancy Nowakowski (Mark) of San Diego; and his sister-in-law Kay Eggleston (Len) of Hemet California. He is also survived by six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three step-great grandchildren, a niece and a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a contribution to a nonprofit agency serving military veterans or first responders.
