She was predeceased by: her parents, Mary Louise Smith Hester and Henry Ryland Hester, Sr.; her siblings, Harold, Henry Ryland Hester, Jr., Josie "Vernelle" Amick, Mary "Lois" Collins (Arthur "Derby" Collins), Mavis Aallhiser (Harold) and Georgie "Alleyne" Monkman (Wesley); and her sibling-in-law Jerry F. Ulery.
She is survived by: her children, Julia René and Joseph Allen (Lorie) of Charlottesville, Virginia; her granddaughter Amanda Spencer McLean (Rob); and her daughters, Samantha Spencer Wade (Curt) and Bella. She is also survived by several nieces, and a nephew, and their extended families.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Louisa United Methodist Church (100 E Main St, Louisa, VA 23093). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 2:30 PM to 3:30 PM at the Hillcrest Cemetery (175 Oak Leaf Dr, Louisa, VA 23093).
In lieu of of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louisa United Methodist Church, Hospice of the Piedmont, or the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA.
