He was predeceased by: his parents, James R. Irving and Lucille Birckhead; his wife Barbara Jean Irving; his brothers, James R. Irving, Ralph V. Irving, Angel L. Irving (Monk) and Bobby W. Irving; his brother-in-law Thomas Shull (Geraldine Crickenberger); and his close friend Trapper.
He is survived by: his son Stephen; his daughter-in-law Tammy Irving; his daughter Shelia E Irving; his grandsons, Christopher Irving (family: Sara Cuthbert, Katie Powell, Xavier Whitehead, Mya Whitehead, Nikki Swanson) and Stevie Swanson; and his brothers-in-law, Charles Shull, Leo Shull, Daniel Shull and Gary Shull. He is also survived by family, Sara Cuthbert and family, Katie Powell and family.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hill & Wood Charlottesville (201 1st St N, Charlottesville, VA 22902). A graveside service was held on Thursday, September 25th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Riverview Cemetery (1701 Chesapeake St, Charlottesville, VA 22902).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of Piedmont.
