He is survived by: his stepson Dr. Tom Akers II (Kathy) of Rocky Mount; his grandchildren, Nathanial Akers of Alaska and Kristen Akers of North Carolina; his stepdaughter Donna Akers-Casanave (Paul) of Williamsburg, Virginia.; his grandchildren, Angela Casanave Stilwell (Zack), Karly Casanave-Phillips (Jonny) and Paul Joseph "PJ" Casanave; his great grandchildren, Finnley, Reagan and Mighty Jack; his caregiver Charlene Shepherd; and his pet LeRoy. He is also survived by his family, friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel (828 Front St, Lovingston, VA 22949). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
