It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Jane Gard (Luray, Virginia), who passed away on February 24, 2026, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her former husband Bob; her son Davey; her sister Shirley Spitler-Schiewe; and her niece Rachel Amsbary. She is survived by: her parents, Ollie Mae Buracker Spitler and Richard Cleveland Spitler; her siblings, Christopher David, Timothy David and Melissa Sue; her husband Greensboro; her children, Chris Gard (Juliet) of Fredericksburg, VA, Tim Gard (Patty) of Kannapolis, NC and Melissa Metcalf (Domenic) of Lavonia, GA; her daughter-in-law Sheila Daughtry; her grandchildren, Nikki Jones, Joshua Schmidt, Jessica Gard, Brittany Smith, Catherine Miller, Erica Minyard, Alex Gard, Christopher Schmidt and Molly Gard; her siblings, Brenda Caref of Raleigh, NC and Richard Spitler, Jr. of Murfreesboro, TN; her cousin Mary Etta Spitler-Segar; and her niece Susie. She is also survived by her parents, siblings, and many other relatives.
