He was predeceased by: his parents, Paul Smith Alther and Louella Pauline Atkins Alther; his brother James Alther; and his brothers-in-law, Huey Atkins and Kent Jenkins.

He is survived by: his sisters, Fay Atkins, Kathy Jenkins and Pamela Woodard (Tommy). He is also survived by his son and daughter; three grandchildren.
