She was predeceased by: her husband John Hamner Sr.; her children, John Hamner Jr. and Ruby Virginia Hamner; her parents, Ruby G. McCoy and Andrew S. McCoy; and her siblings, Harold, Robert, Richard, Joseph and Rosemond Garrison.
She is survived by: her daughter Virty L. Hamner (Lela); her grandchildren, Deon Hamner of Richmond, Sean Hamner, Adrian Miller and Krystle Miller of Maryland; her siblings, Ersie V. McCoy Thomas, Caroll McCoy of Lynchburg and Mitchell McCoy of Lynchburg; and her sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Travers of Washington, D. C. and Ann A. McCoy of Lynchburg. She is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
