He was predeceased by: his parents, Sallie Phillips Goodman and Stephen O. Goodman; and his sister Betty Goodman Smith. He is survived by: his wife Sara Coulter Goodman; his sons, Scott (Tamara) and Mark; his grandsons, Andrew and Jeremy; and his brother Bob (Barbara). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, relatives and close friends.

“So sorry to hear of Billy's passing. I would see him and Sara at Krogers all the time. My husband,Wayland, always referred to him as "Big John". Back in the 70's , he used to go with some of the men from Calvary Cross Baptist Church up on top of Candlers Mountain to pray after Church Service. Thank God we know where he is and that we'll see him again one day soon. Love and prayers to the family. Praying for peace, strength and comfort for the days ahead. (Linda & Wayland Grubbs)”
