He was predeceased by: his parents, William Hawks and Lorene Hawks; his son Rodney Grubbs (Pam); his siblings, Fay Cash (Massie), Joyce Kent (Walter), Billy (Pearl), Raymond (Betty) and Nathan Hawks (Faye); and his grandfather Big David.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Stinnette Hawks; his children, David W. Hawks, Jr. of New Orleans, LA, Eddie Grubbs (Jill) and Kimberly Grubbs; his grandsons, Micah Hawks of New Orleans, LA and Ryan Grubbs; and his close friend Russell Tyree.
