He was predeceased by: his parents, Barney McGustavus Stewart and Christine Elizabeth Payne Stewart; his grandson Benjamin Stewart; and his brother-in-law Calesta W. Saunders, Sr. (Cal). He is survived by: his wife Diane Saunders Stewart; his children, Amy Snead (J. D.), Kimberlie Mason (Sammy) of Lynchburg, VA, David Stewart, II (Lisa) of Mt. Juliet, TN and Simone Stewart of Lynchburg, VA.; his grandchildren, Caleb, Landon Snead, Joseph Stewart-Branch, Chad, Deon Mason, Alexia Mendoza (Lexy) and Ethan Brinley; his sisters, Dianne Simms (Melvin) of Omaha, NE, Sheila Trent (Clyde) of Lynchburg, VA, Lula Stewart of Omaha, NE and Robin Stewart of Durham, NC.; his sisters-in-law, Jacqueline S. Hubbard (Jackie) of Charlotte, NC, Jan Ragland of Oviedo, FL. and Kim Blue of Oviedo, FL.; his goddaughter Natahlia Hubbard Alicea (Santos Alicea) of Orlando, FL; his friend Donnie Dee of Orangevale, CA; and also, Eli, Marrianna and Mikayla. He is also survived by 12 great-nephews, 12 great-nieces, one great-great nephew, and one great-great niece, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who were touched by his wisdom.
