She was predeceased by: her parents, James D. Cawthorne and Annie Woodridge Cawthorne; and her husbands, Lewis Edward Staton and Loyd Don Johnson. She is survived by: her son James "Spike" Staton (Debbie); her grandson Steve Staton (Pam); her children, L. D. Johnson (Debbie) and Goldie "Gay" Archer; and her brother Norman Cawthorne. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Jordan Baptist Church, 3708 Parkwood Avenue, Lynchburg, VA 24501, where she was a charter member for 60 years.
