He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Milton Whitmore and Frances Hoover Whitmore. He is survived by: his wife Mary K. Whitmore; his sons, C. E. "Dee" Whitmore, II (Trish), Jerry Whitmore (Christina) and Jon Michael Whitmore; and his grandchildren, Angel, Gabe and Cullen Whitmore.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 7336 Timberlake Rd., Lynchburg.
