It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elizabeth McCormick Garrett of Lynchburg, Virginia, born in Appomattox, Virginia, who passed away on August 25, 2023, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband James T. Garrett; her parents, Lewis McCormick and Eva McCormick; and her siblings, Lewis "Pete" McCormick, Ervin McCormick, Edward McCormick, Leonard McCormick, Wallace McCormick and Frances Mays.
She is survived by: her children, James "Jim" T. Garrett, Jr. (Tammy), Joyce G. Sawyer and Jerald W. Garrett (Vicki); her sister Margaret McCormick; her grandchildren, Ernie Sawyer, III (Amy), Eric Sawyer (Leah), J. W. Garrett (Rebecca), Jennifer Hankins (Chase) and Latisha Nadelman (Cary); her great grandchildren, Garrett Sawyer, Emilia Sawyer and Ernie Sawyer, Jr. (Donna); and her children, Ernie III and Eric.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
