He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther James Ayers and Flossie Ayers Bailey; and his siblings, Luther J. Ayers, Jr., Buddy Ayers, Elsie Bailey and Peggy Blankenship.
He is survived by: his wife Wanda Wise Ayers; his children, Gene P. Ayers, Jr., William Luther "Billy" Ayers, Donna Lee Hall (Edwin) and Troy Gene Ayers; and his close friends, Lynn and Brenda Wills. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
