He was predeceased by: his parents, George Sumpter, Jr. and Octavia Sumpter; and his sister Amanda Shirey. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Sumpter; his children, Christopher Sumpter of Lynchburg and Heather Winfield (Gerald) of Evington; and his granddaughters, Skyler and Ashlyn Winfield.
